The dream began after a family breakup, leaving me alone with two children to care for and nothing to my name. Despite the difficulties, my focus remained clear: how do I move forward?

I found a job at an ice cream shop just to make ends meet. For years, I worked seven days a week, immersing myself in the business, learning everything I could, and building connections. Over time, the opportunity came to start something of my own.

A storefront opened up on one of the busiest streets in our town, and I was able to buy it with the money I had saved, becoming my own boss. That’s how Paletería Juaritos was born.

The ice cream business might not seem very profitable, but in Mexico it can be, especially in a small town with a large Hispanic population. It was a big risk, but the relationships I built paid off. When people found out I had started my own business, they supported me, and I gave everything I had to my shop.

Over time, the results spoke for themselves. Others doubted I could succeed because of the challenges I faced, but I took control of my future and proved them wrong.

Now I can proudly say it was one of the best decisions of my life. Since then, I’ve been featured on local news and radio, in our local newspaper, received an award as one of the best ice cream shops in Dodge City, participated in many community events, and sent my children to college, giving them opportunities I never had.
